Fly or Ferry to Nantucket
The large majority of visitors to Nantucket arrive on one of the commercial ferries from Hyannis. Browse schedules for Hy-Line Cruises and the Steamship Auhority from Hyannis. There are also ferries from Martha's Vineyard and New Bedford. If you're looking for a fast hop to the island by air, there are flights from Boston, New York and New Bedford, MA.

Families with small children prefer the safer North side beaches (Children's Beach, Jetties Beach), while avid surfers, swimmers, and sun-bathers may prefer the heavy surf and natural awe of the South shore beaches (Madeket Beach, Cisco, Siasconset Beach).

For the nautical enthusiast there is a variety of boats available both sail and power. Sailors will want to check out the Memorial Day Weekend FUGAWI Race. Sailboats range from day sailers to cat boats and yacht charters. There are also center console and sportfishing boats available for rent or charter. Guests arriving on private boats will want to plan ahead witih one of the marinas or harbormaster, since the harbor is very busy in the summertime.

Summer kicks off with FUGAWI Race Weekend and the Nantucket Film Festival.

Today's post whaling Nantucket was re-discovered as a colony for artists, and this fact is evident in the abundance of options for the arts enthusiast. Nantucket boasts three active theatre companies and a variety of musical organizations. The island attracts exceptional artists, and there are more than 50 art galleries. In addition to the busy events calendar, there are numerous art discoveries including numerous galleries and exhibits offered by the Artist's Association of Nantucket.
